Manufacturing Engineer wanted in Den Bosch. Build the production lines behind batteries for electric flight and European defence. Prototype to volume. SolidWorks, hands-on.

Job description

Tulip Tech designs, builds, and assembles battery packs for drones and electric aircraft in Den Bosch. Every pack is developed in-house, with a focus on energy density, weight, and runtime performance that off-the-shelf solutions cannot match.

Following a partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Defence, we are expanding its focus from technology development into volume manufacturing. We are currently commissioning our first production lines, a phase that combines engineering rigor with the practical demands of scaling a new product into repeatable production.

Why this role matters

This role is responsible for the manufacturing process across multiple production lines and standalone machinery. The work covers setting up, modifying, and improving production equipment, tooling, and fixtures, and the process side: defining, documenting, and standardizing how production runs. As the lines are being commissioned and scaled, both the physical setup and accompanying documentation are still being established. The work involves building and implementing these in parallel, alongside maintaining and improving what is already in place.

What you will achieve

  • Manufacturing and production processes that are repeatable, well-documented, and continuously improved

  • Mechanical and electrical tooling and fixtures designed and built to reduce cycle time and process risk

  • FMEAs, work instructions, and test plans for every critical process step, written to be used on the floor

  • A measurable progression from prototype-grade assembly to mature, volume-ready production

  • Design feedback to the engineering team (DFA/DFM) that improves manufacturability before a product reaches the floor

  • Improved quality and yield through structured root-cause analysis

Job requirements

  • Proven experience in manufacturing or production engineering, including building and improving production processes in a real production environment

  • Strong SolidWorks skills for tool, fixture, and jig design

  • Experience designing and building tooling across both mechanical and electrical domains

  • The ability to assess a process critically, identify what is not working, and implement a more effective approach

  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach: you challenge assumptions constructively and improve processes in incremental, achievable steps

  • A structured way of working: clear documentation and the discipline to keep it current

  • Right to work in the Netherlands

  • We are open to all formal education levels (MBO, HBO, or WO). Relevant experience and demonstrated capability matter more than a specific degree. If you meet most of the above, we still encourage you to apply.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methods applied on a production floor

  • A background in battery, EV, drone, automotive, or aerospace hardware

  • Experience commissioning or standing up a new production line

  • Dutch language skills

Additional information

Location: Den Bosch, on-site and full-time. The role is based on the production floor.

Work authorization: Right to work in the Netherlands is required. Some work is defense-adjacent; eligibility is confirmed during screening.

Interview process:

Four stages. (1) Interview with Recruiter, Jonathan. (2) Interview with hiring manager, Stijn. (3) Technical case and floor walk with Stijn and an engineer. (4) Final conversation on culture and team fit.

What the role offers

  • Direct involvement in defining and building manufacturing processes as the operation scales from prototype to volume

  • Real ownership and influence over manufacturing decisions in a flat, engineering-led organization

  • A clear mission: battery systems for electric flight and European defence

  • 38 paid days off per year (25 vacation + 13 ADV under CAO Metaal & Techniek)

  • 8% holiday allowance, travel reimbursement, pension via PMT, and daily lunch on-site

  • An international team of 10+ nationalities, with regular team events

Interested?

You would lead the industrialization of our battery production, from process design through to a stable, volume-ready line. The role offers real ownership and a clear engineering mandate.

Den Bosch. On-site. Full time.

No agencies, please.
