Job description
Drones that fly longer change what's possible. Faster inspections. More effective surveillance. Longer-range logistics. But most drone batteries cap out too soon.
Tulip Tech designs and manufactures high-density battery systems that push drone flight time 30 to 100% further than standard technology. Built in Den Bosch, Netherlands. Backed by the Dutch Ministry of Defence. Trusted by leading drone companies including Acecore, Percepto, and DeltaQuad. We are not a software company with a hardware attachment we are engineers who design cells, build packs, run tests, and scale production. Everything under one roof, built to last
Why this role matters
Our high-density battery systems deliver unparalleled energy density, reliability, and longevity, enabling your drones to go further, last longer, and perform better.
With innovation at the core of our mission, we engineer battery solutions that make drones fly 30% to up to 100% further, all proudly manufactured in Europe.
As our Technical Buyer, you are the commercial engine behind our component supply chain. You will own the sourcing of battery cells, PCBs, electronic components, connectors, and related parts. From first RFQ to series delivery. You will work closely with Engineering and Production to translate technical requirements into supply solutions, negotiate sharp deals, and build the supplier relationships that keep our manufacturing lines running without surprises.
What you will achieve
Own the full sourcing cycle for electronic and battery components: RFQ, supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and onboarding.
Manage and develop a panel of suppliers for battery cells (cylindrical & flatpack), PCBs, BMS components, connectors, and passive electronics.
Drive cost negotiations to hit annual savings targets, tracking total cost of ownership, not just unit price.
Collaborate daily with R&D engineers to align component specifications early in the product development process (NPI/DFM).
Work with quality and production to resolve incoming quality issues, initiate 8D processes, and hold suppliers accountable.
Monitor supply risks (capacity, lead times, EOL notices) and develop mitigation plans, dual-sourcing, safety stock strategies, and alternatives.
Maintain accurate data in our ERP (Odoo) system and contribute to S&OP planning cycles.
Support the introduction of new components into our supply chain as we scale into new product lines.
Job requirements
Bsc or Msc degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in a buyer, project buyer, or sourcing role, ideally in electronics, automotive, or battery/energy tech.
Solid understanding of electronic components: you know the difference between a cell chemistry and a connector series, and can read a BOM without a decoder ring.
Proven track record of negotiating with component suppliers and landing tangible cost reductions.
Experience building or strengthening supplier relationships, not just transactional, but genuinely strategic.
Ability to work cross-functionally: comfortable in a room with engineers, planners, and CFOs alike.
Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
Nice to have
Experience with lithium-ion battery components (cells, BMS, housings, busbars).
Familiarity with DG/hazmat supply chain requirements (UN 38.3, IMDG, ADR).
Exposure to Asian supplier markets (China, South Korea, Vietnam).
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, AFAS, or similar).
NEVI or CIPS certification or working towards one.
Interview process
Intro call (20 min)
Interview panel with the supply chain team (60 min)
Offer
What we offer
Competitive salary between 3800 - 4800 gross/month excluding 8 % holiday accrual (based on experience)
38 paid days off per year (25 vacation + 13 ADV via CAO Metaal & Techniek)
8% holiday allowance, travel reimbursement, and pension via PMT
Daily lunch provided by the company
Direct access to the full mechanical chain: from first CAD model to battery in the air
Flat team: your design decisions reach production fast
