Test Engineer

  • On-site, Hybrid
    • Den Bosch, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands
  • €4,000 - €4,700 per month

Own the battery test lab: validate silicon-anode packs for drones in flight. 3–5 yrs experience. Full-time, on-site.

Job description

Our batteries fly. Every cell you characterize, every pack you validate, every thermal limit you test that work ends up in a drone operating in real conditions. The data you produce determines whether hardware ships.

Tulip Tech designs and manufactures silicon-anode battery systems at 450 Wh/kg energy density 30 to 100% more flight time than anything else on the market. We are backed by a Dutch Ministry of Defence partnership secured in late 2025, and our packs are flying in aircraft built by Acecore, Percepto, DeltaQuad, and Tective. Everything we make is manufactured in Den Bosch. Now we scale.

Why this role matters

Tulip Tech is in industrialization phase. Designs that proved out in prototypes now need to be validated at production volume. Every protocol you build and every dataset you generate becomes the foundation for what ships to customers.

This is not a QA function at the end of the chain. It is a core part of the engineering chain. We need a Test Engineer at medior level around 3–5 years of hands-on experience who wants to own the lab, not just work in it.

What you will own

  • Characterize lithium-ion and silicon-anode cells across temperature, rate, and cycle conditions relevant to real drone flight profiles

  • Design, validate, and own battery pack test protocols from first article through production release, aligned to IEC, UN38.3, and ISO standards

  • Automate test data acquisition and processing pipelines to reduce manual analysis time and enable faster design iteration

  • Stress-test packs to failure: thermal, mechanical, safety. Document what breaks and feed findings directly into design decisions.

  • Own root cause analysis when anomalies appear in cell or pack data. Write corrective action reports the hardware team can act on.

  • Qualify and maintain test equipment battery cyclers, environmental chambers, fixtures so the lab is always ready to run

Job requirements

  • Around 3–5 years of hands-on experience testing lithium-ion battery cells or packs in a lab or production environment

  • Familiar with battery cyclers e.g. Neware, Elektro-Automatik and Delta Electronics and environmental test chambers

  • Working knowledge of IEC, UN38.3, or ISO standards for battery testing

  • Experience writing or running test automation scripts Python preferred, but any scripting background transfers

  • Strong technical documentation: your test plans and results need to be clear enough for hardware engineers to act on

  • If you meet most but not all of the above, apply anyway.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with silicon-anode or solid-state battery chemistries

  • Background in electric aviation, drone systems, or defense hardware

Nice to have means not required.

Interview process

  1. Intro call with Recruiter (30 minutes)

  2. Technical interview with the engineering team (60 minutes, on-site in Den Bosch)

  3. Offer

What we offer

  • Competitive salary between €4,000– €4,700 gross per month (based on experience)

  • 38 paid days off per year (25 vacation + 13 ADV via CAO Metaal & Techniek)

  • 8% holiday allowance, travel reimbursement, and pension via PMT

  • Daily lunch provided by the company

  • A startup culture with team outings and events

  • Freedom to shape your role and take real ownership

Ready to test something that flies?

The data you generate at Tulip Tech does not sit in a report. It determines what we ship and how we improve it. Den Bosch. On-site. Full-time. Let's talk.

No recruitment agencies please.
